Marske woods Guisbrough eston hills

Left early this morning 6am And did my usual climb up and over Marske Woods round the top and down to Upletham. Dropped down to the Skelton to Guisbrough road turned right and followed the road up the steep bank to Guisbrough. Through the town center and onto the Bypass and turned right on the very steep farm track up to poular Farm. Through the farm yard and turned left onto Eston Moor nice views on the left to Roseberry Topping and the Cleveland Hills.

At Barnaby farm took the rather indistinct bridleway on the left and climbed up to where the bridleway forks. Took the right hand fork and climbed the very steep path to the nab and the trig point first time climbed eston hills on a singlespeed without dabbing

Views open up to the petrochemical firms and whats left of Corus most people hate the views but i like looking over the heavy industry of Teeside and probably wont be there for long.

Took the Rocky downhill down towards wilton back road had 2 bad off Kenda small block and wet rocks don't mix will have to change these if the tracks dont dry out.
Down wilton bank into Wilton village and across the road and down Kirkletham road back to redcar under 20 miles but a tough ride with some serious off road climbs Route time 2hours 10min starting to feel really fit may go to Dalby Forrest on Sunday and see how strong Ive got and see if i can beat my 3Hours for the red route

Marske woods Yearby Red Deer sighting

Usual start of a steep climb up to Marske woods been raining through the night so the track were slippery maybe may need to change tyres Kenda small blocks struggled for grip when climbing. Got to the top of the woods and a red deer ran in front of me forgot my camera so took a picture with my phone. Deer did not run off and was quite bold usually see plenty of deer on my early morning rides but not at 1pm.

Droped into Upletham and back into the woods rode the technical tracks back to the beginning of the woods. Back onto the road over to yearby bank and followed the bridleway to yearby woods. Steep downhill down to Kirkletham woods and quick blast down the road back home.
Nice 14.6 mile ride.
